Athens

Athens, according to tradition, was founded by the goddess Athene. It has been inhabited since around 5000 BC but it was not until the 2nd millennium that it became an important Mycenaean centre. This conflicts with the idea that Athens engaged in a war with Atlantis around 9600 BC. It simply did not exist at that time.
