Godwin, G.N.

George Nelson Godwin (1846-1907) was a British Army chaplain who wrote a guide to Malta [1592]+ a couple of decades before the end of the 19th century. In it, he noted that These islands are supposed with good reason to have formed part of a much larger tract of land now submerged, and which was either a large island or islands or else formed part of Europe or Africa, if not of both.” 

>Godwin refers to the earlier guide written by Borzesi<and appeared to be sympathetic to the idea of a Maltese Athalantis (sic) given the probable greater size of Malta in times past.
