Sanson, Nicolas

nicolas_sansonNicolas Sanson (1600-1667) is considered the father of French cartography and founder of the famed Sanson firm. Around 1677, his son, Guillaume published one of Nicolas’ maps depicting North and South America entitled Atlantis Insula. They subsequently published maps showing how America had been divided up between the ten Atlantean royal families, with Mexico allocated to Atlas.
