The New Atlantis, by Sir Francis Bacon, was first published in 1627 and is now available on the web^(a). This short work of fiction added little to the study of Atlantis as it merely reflects the sentiment of the Bacon’s era, which following Columbus’ discovery of America, placed the location of Atlantis off the west coast of America.
