Atlantida is believed by the Portuguese to have existed in the Atlantic near Portugal with the present Azores being remnants of that island.

Atlantida in many European languages translates as ‘Atlantis’ and is consequently is to be found as the title of many Atlantis related books and journals. For example we are informed by Nikolai Zhirov whose own book[458]  was originally published in Russian as Atlántida, noted (p.403) that in 1957 a journal entitled Atlantida was published in the Azores
