Nicklès, Jérôme

Jérôme Nicklès (1821-1869) was a French chemist who included the study of batteries in his research. He was associated with a number of scientific organisations, including the Académie de Stanislas. The records of that academy contain a 1864 paper by Nicklès supporting the existence of Atlantis on scientific grounds(a) and locating Plato’s island in the Atlantic with the Canaries as prime candidates.
