Ernst Gegenschatz (1914-1998) was a Swiss classical scholar who presented a dissertation, in German, on Plato’s Atlantis as his doctoral thesis to the University of Zurich and subsequently had it formally published[674]. It seems he did not think that the details in the Atlantis story were to be taken literally.
