Chiang Mai
Chiang Mai is a popular tourist centre in Northern Thailand and now nearby Doi Sethup is the source of a new Atlantis claim. The English language Bangkok Post(a) has reported (5/8/2012) that following archaeological discoveries at Doi Sethup last February it was thought that the ancient city of Jed-lin had been rediscovered. However, Poonsab Wongsasukoipak, secretary of the Jed-lin Anthropological Research Institute, claims “with 80% certainty” that the ruins are 10,000 years old and part of Atlantis!
As far as I can ascertain, there has been no further comment from Poonsab over the past decade, so Chiang Mai remains in the overflowing dustbin of daft Atlantis location suggestions.
