Popular Fiction has employed Atlantis as a theme since the 17th century when Francis Bacon wrote his New Atlantis. Jules Verne touched on the subject of Atlantis in his 1873, 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea[0779]. However, it was the publication of Ignatius Donnelly’s Atlantis[0021] in 1882 that gave a powerful boost to the creation of Atlantis themed books, films and more recently, games.(a)(b).
