Alphabet
Russo, Dr Nicola
Dr Nicola Russo was chairman of the Italian Atlantis Society of Bari and was also editor of and contributor to its journal Atlantide in Italia while it was issued between 1930 and 1932.>It was revived briefly again in 1958. Russo also contributed to Lewis Spence‘s Atlantis Quarterly in the 1930s.<
He was convinced that the Azores were the mountain peaks of a submerged Atlantis. His views on Atlantis were published in book form in 1951[532].
In 1976, Jürgen Spanuth pointed out [0015.249] that the Azores were not the mountain peaks of a sunken continent but instead are composed of volcanic rock created through eruption. He quotes similar sentiments expressed by Hans Pettersson.
>Among Russo’s other unconventional ideas is the view that “the Phoenician alphabet was derived from the Atlantean alphabet, which was taught to the Maya of Central America”!!(a)
